Course Description
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in ENGL 115, ENGL 103, ENGL 103W, or ENGL 104, or English placement test score (Level 2 or higher). Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 115 allowed. This course serves as an introduction to the study of ethics. Students will read classic texts from the history of ethics: Plato, Aristotle, Hume, Mill, Kant, and Freud. Students will apply ethical theory and moral reasoning to contemporary issues in business, politics, the environment, and/or the health care industry. Students personally will confront the tension between "living the good life" and "living a life in which there is goodness." [Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring].
